About the tour

We will start discovering the history of Paris’ first english library: Shakespeare and Company. Then, we will compare the two oldest churches in this part of the city, the church of Saint Julien le Pauvre and the cathedral of Notre Dame de Paris. La Sorbonne, the Paris medieval university, was originated here.

The most ancient structure in Paris are the Roman baths (III century), and from there we will go to the first neoclassical building in Paris, the Pantheon. The most important people that lived in France are buried here: Marie Curie, Victor Hugo, Alexandre Dumas and Josephine Baker.

Marie de’ Medici wanted to escape the stress of living in the city, and so she built the Luxembourg Palace and its gardens, home to a beautiful mannerist fountain. We will finish the tour going to one of the rare streets that escaped the destructions of the XIX century: Cour du Commerce Saint-André.
